Abstract
The aim of the paper is to create a possible typology for technical texts in a socio-cognitive framework, focusing
on the concept of technical text. By using the findings of cognitive linguistics and the pragmatic perspective, the
study tries to point out the benefits of a typology of technical texts embedded in this theoretical framework. As the
basis of a text typology is necessarily determined by the nature of the text, the concept of technical text needs to
be examined from the perspective of institutionalized and empirical knowledge components. By highlighting the
means of sharing knowledge, the study provides a proposal for interpreting the possible types of technical texts
and identifying directions for further research.
